Ch. Mohammad Sarwar

Ch. Mohammad Sarwar is a distinguished Pakistani-British statesman with a long record of public service in both the United Kingdom & Pakistan. He served as the 31st & 33rd Governor of Punjab, from 2013 to 2015 & again from 2018 to 2022. During his first term, he represented the Pakistan Muslim League (N), & during his second term, he represented the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. He was also a member of the Senate of Pakistan from March to September 2018. In the United Kingdom, Mr. Sarwar was a Member of Parliament for Glasgow Central from 1997 to 2010. He was the first Muslim to be elected to the UK Parliament & served on the Scottish Affairs Select Committee. His son, Anas Sarwar, currently leads the Scottish Labour Party. 18 19 Born in Pirmahal, Punjab, Mr. Sarwar moved to Scotland in 1976, where he established a successful business before entering politics. He relinquished his UK citizenship in 2013 to assume public office in Pakistan. As a Board Member of GRAO, Ch. Mohammad Sarwar provides strategic oversight & high- level advocacy to advance the organization’s mission in rehabilitation, education, & community development.
